VOLUNTEERS: Volunteers can REGISTER NOW.
We are Looking for those with camp and/or fencing experience, as team leaders to help:
· to set up team structures
· support those less experienced and
· maintain tools and equipment
Lots of experience or none but eager and willing to help BlazeAid? – ALL WELCOME, training provided.
The WALWA camp can accept WH Visa holders for your visa requirements to meet your 88 days.
BEFORE ARRIVING: Please contact the basecamp at least the day prior to your intended arrival so we can include you in a team and put your name on the dinner list. If possible, you should aim to arrive prior to 5pm.
BREAKFAST: From 6:00am
MUSTER: 6:45am Mandatory for all volunteers working that day.
**Local day to day volunteers MUST be at our WALWA basecamp no later than 6:45am each morning (welcome for breakfast also) late arrivals may not get assigned to a field crew that day.
MEALS: Meals are provided for volunteers. Please bring your own snacks.
· Continental Breakfast at camp daily
· Lunch food provided for you to make your own sandwiches to take with you
· Evening a nourishing two-course meal provided at camp
· Families that you will be working with may also offer morning tea and lunch for volunteers each day.
· Community groups may also provide meals at base camp
Please note, if you have special dietary needs you will need to bring your own food if you are not able to eat the meals provided.
AMENITIES:
Limited power and water is available.
ACCOMMODATION: There is plenty of space for you to bring your own caravan, motorhome, swag or tent. Toilets, hot showers and laundry facilities are available.
Volunteers who don’t have their own accommodation should speak to the Camp Coordinator for options and availability.
Please remember that we are working in disaster areas, so the accommodation available may be fairly basic and power will be limited. In some areas, mobile phone coverage might not be very good.
